Christchurch Outpatients - Oxford Terrace

Situated in Christchurch’s health precinct on Oxford Terrace, the impressive five-storey, 10,500m² Outpatients Building delivers over twenty outpatient and client services under one roof. Designed to serve as a central hub for Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, this purpose-built facility reflects a shift towards modern, patient-centered care.

Furnishing a facility of this scale and complexity demanded a deep understanding of healthcare workplace requirements and strong collaboration with all stakeholders. The project team required a furniture partner who could accurately interpret clinical needs, communicate effectively across diverse user groups, and deliver a seamless, large-scale fit-out with precision and reliability.

BFG was selected as the sole furniture supplier for the project. With decades of experience in healthcare fit-outs, we were entrusted to support the delivery from early planning stages through to final installation.

Our involvement began in 2017 and included:

• Extensive Consultation: We held detailed workshops and planning sessions with clinicians, end users, and project stakeholders.

• Design Collaboration: Based on these insights, we produced tailored floorplans and 3D renders to visualise workspaces and support the project’s change management strategy.
  
  
• Change Management Support: Our engagement helped ease the transition to the new building by addressing concerns early, aligning furniture choices with workflows, and ensuring users were well-prepared for the new environment.

Through close collaboration, thoughtful design, and reliable delivery, BFG played a key role in the successful transition to the Oxford Terrace facility. The new space is modern, functional, and supportive of both staff and patients, setting a new benchmark for outpatient care environments in New Zealand.
