University of Auckland - Grafton Hall

The University of Auckland’s Grafton Hall refurbishment set out to create a modern, vibrant residential facility that could meet the needs of hundreds of students. Spread across three interconnected buildings with a central dining atrium, the project required a complete furnishing, fittings, and equipment (FF&E) solution. This project covered everything from individual bedrooms to collaborative study spaces.

BFG was selected to deliver the full supply and fit-out, designing and installing tailored furniture solutions for 320 individual student rooms.

Each space was fitted with custom floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, beds, desks, chairs, pinboards, and dining tables to ensure comfort and functionality.

Collaboration and breakout areas were also carefully considered, with a wide variety of seating, tables, and communal pieces chosen to support both study and social interaction. Despite the scale and complexity of the project, our team met the tight programme deadline. Our work began in mid-November 2018 and we handed over a fully finished facility by January 30th, 2019.

The completed Grafton Hall provides students with a welcoming, fully equipped living and learning environment. Private rooms are practical yet comfortable, while communal areas foster connection and collaboration. The result is a residence that balances the needs of individual study with the benefits of community life. We’re proud to have delivered on time and to a high standard.
