The objective of the project was to transform these foyer areas into inviting and practical environments that encourage student use. By introducing flexible furniture solutions, the aim was to create spaces that support both individual study and informal collaboration while enhancing the overall student experience within the buildings.

BFG were engaged to reimagine these areas and introduce furniture settings that would make the spaces more comfortable, functional, and adaptable to a variety of student needs.

Our approach focused on introducing a range of informal collaboration and touchdown areas throughout the foyers. By carefully selecting furniture suited to open and transitional spaces, we were able to create environments where students could comfortably work, meet, or relax between classes.

The solution centred around modular soft seating elements that allow users to easily reconfigure the layouts depending on how the space is being used. These flexible seating arrangements provide settings for laptop use and individual study, while also enabling small groups to gather for discussion or collaborative work.

This adaptable approach ensures the spaces remain dynamic and responsive to the changing patterns of student use throughout the day.

The completed environments have transformed previously underutilised foyers into vibrant and well-used social and learning spaces.

Through the introduction of flexible seating and informal collaboration areas, BFG helped create welcoming environments that encourage connection, support study, and contribute to a more engaging student experience across the campus.
