Goal
Unitec’s new student hub is designed to provide a unique centralised space that allows students to meet and study, both individually and collaboratively in groups. The main goal of this project was to elevate Unitec’s library into a dynamic and inspiring environment that supports learning, social interaction, and student wellbeing.
How We Went About It
BFG were selected to supply both standard furniture from our range and a number of bespoke items for the fit out, including the student study Waka Pods and the reception Koru Pod.
We also provided a physical 3D model before manufacture. The Koru Pod design represents new beginnings, growth, strength, and peace, and it brings a clear visual link to New Zealand culture. It creates a welcoming and supportive space where students can learn and grow.
Turn Out
Our team are very proud to have worked alongside Unitec to bring these pieces from an initial concept drawing to a prototype scale model and finally into a fully functioning environment. The completed Koru Pod spans an impressive 6 metres in diameter and 3.5 metres in height.
