The Wilson Home Trust

The Wilson Home refurbishment focused on transforming an existing facility that is dedicated to supporting children and young adults with a physical disability and their families into a warm, welcoming, and highly functional space for residents, staff, and visitors. The objective was to balance durability and practicality with a more residential, homely feeling—creating spaces that support comfort, wellbeing, and ease of use while meeting the operational demands. 

At BFG, we took the time to understand the specific needs of the Wilson Home team, residents, and wider stakeholders. This included careful consideration of mobility requirements, infection control standards, and the importance of creating a calming, familiar environment through the type of furniture and colours used throughout.

We worked closely with the project team to:

·         Review layouts and furniture selections to ensure optimal flow and usability

·         Select finishes and materials that were both robust and easy to maintain

·         Provide fit-for-purpose solutions across bedrooms, lounges, dining areas, and shared spaces

·         Coordinate manufacturing, delivery, and installation to align with refurbishment staging and minimise disruption to residents

Our in-house manufacturing capability allowed us to tailor solutions where needed, ensuring consistency across the facility while maintaining flexibility for different spaces.

The completed refurbishment delivers a cohesive, thoughtfully designed environment that feels both functional and inviting. Spaces are brighter, more comfortable, and better suited to the day-to-day needs of staff, residents and providing a warm, friendly, functional environment for families throughout the duration of their stay.
